Memorial for PK Lee

As we begin this new year we want to take a pause and reflect, to remember a very special sister we have in PK Lee. PK was instrumental in establishing our workplace ministry in Singapore and the Global Day of Prayer. Although she has left us for over 7 years now, we continue to draw inspiration and strength from her memory. We hope that by sharing her story with you, you will likewise be encouraged for His kingdom come and His will be done at our workplace.

Lord Jesus, we give thanks for PK Lee’s life. She was to us a very special colleague, friend and mentor. Bless her memory; bless us that we may carry on what she began for Your glory. Amen.

This is a beautiful memorial to PK written by some of those whose lives she touched:

In memory of PK Lee

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. (Philippians 1:21-22)

PK Lee was the General Counsel of our Singapore affiliate when she left us in Aug 2008 after battling cancer for several years. PK was instrumental in establishing our workplace ministry in Singapore including the Global Day of Prayer. Her story is testament to a life transformed in His glory. Although deeply missed, we continue to draw inspiration and strength from her memory. It is for us to carry on the ministry she so valiantly started during her lifetime.

A Life Dedicated to His Purpose

Contributed by Dafne SunPK lived by the verse in Philippians 1:21 that was dear to her heart "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." The greatest work that can be done while she was on earth was to glorify God by living the character of Christ. She was willing to die to self and willing to say "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."Her life was bound up with our Lord who was her all and in all to her - the author, the support and the source of her life of faith. She had shown and taught me by example of her life which was dedicated to Christ and the ministry which was assigned to her she had fulfilled like Archippus, her life of service as a servant leader and her giving spirit which continues to live in hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her. She has "rested from her labours and her works do follow her’. It remains for us to continue with and finish the work she had started, to fulfill it by His grace, for His glory.

A Life of Love

Contributed by Alicia FooPK’s departure from us left quite a void in my work life. We used to share and talk with complete trust and confidence in each other with the common bond of Jesus that bound us. I would describe our friendship and fellowship as being clasped together firmly with a love that is deep and rich, laced with happy memories and fond recollections. In her final days on earth, PK continued to pray for the workplace ministry that she had started: That it will grow and flourish - reaching out to the many souls in and around the office. The Alpha market place is one area she would love to see it carry on. God knows that we may not do it as well as she could have done. But we will try and we are determined to bring glory to the name of our Father.

A Life Transformed

Contributed by Lee Khuay ChyeI can think of no better example of a transformed life than that of our beloved late sister in Christ, PK Lee. Who she was before knowing Christ was visibly different from who she became after knowing Christ. She moved dramatically from seeking what the world seeks, to seeking God's Kingdom. She began to care for others and for the salvation of their souls. Everything that she did whether in work or outside of work was to do His will and bring glory to His name. She boldly proclaimed Him.What struck me most about PK was that after she had come to know Christ, she was an example of humility and love, to the extent that she had sought out colleagues whom she had felt she may have offended before she came to Christ, to seek their forgiveness. For many of us, it is sometimes easier to forgive, harder to say sorry. PK did what was harder. She gained the respect of many, including mine. She taught us the power of genuine humility and the real meaning of serving Christ.Although she had a prolonged and terminal illness, she did not complain but found every opportunity to give thanks. When she passed away, her wake was overwhelmingly attended every night. At her funeral, many stood in pouring rain and on muddy ground to bid her farewell.PK left an indelible impression on many of us. She is a woman of conviction, who stood by what she believed. She stood tall. She showed us how our Lord cantransform us, if only we let Him. PK may have left us now but in my and many hearts, she's forever near.

A Life of Purpose

Contributed by Bao KengI met PK in early 1982, when I was invited to meet the Chairman of our Malaysia group of companies and other members of the Law department. They were looking to hire fresh graduates at that time. After I joined the company, PK instantly took me under her wing, and became my mentor. When she was posted to her new role in Singapore, I recall that we shared some of her misgivings. Looking back now, I know it was all a part of God’s plan for her – as it was in Singapore where she accepted Christ into her life. After she came to know Christ, her life was completely transformed as she became someone who submitted to Christ in every aspect of her life – from the words she uttered to the actions she took and the decisions she made. She was always telling me that God had placed her where she was in the company to do His will, and to fulfil His great commission. Her sole objective was to establish His kingdom on earth and become more like Christ in every way. She thanked God through the challenges she had faced, for example, having to live apart from her husband during her assignment. But she trusted in God to take care of her spouse, and God was faithful, answering her prayers in many ways, including her prayer for her husband who came to Christ after her death.Between the years that she accepted Christ in the early 2000, to the time that she passed on in 2008, she touched many lives and hearts with the love of Christ. Whilst we will never stop missing her, we celebrate the unique and wonderful person that she was. She continues to be that example for us to light the world with God’s love – to pass on His love, and continue the great work she started in our company.

When the sun rises and sets

When we are weary and need strength

When we have joys to share

We remember her

Lord Jesus, we give thanks for PK Lee’s life. She was to us a very special colleague, friend and mentor.

Bless her memory; bless us that we may carry on what she began for Your glory. Amen.
