Our Mission
We seek to connect and encourage Christians to confidently live out their faith in the workplace.
Founded in 2014 the Christian Community at ExxonMobil, or CCEM, is a community of ExxonMobil employees located at the ExxonMobil Houston Campus. CCEM’s intent is to provide a simple framework for Christians in the workplace to meet, communicate, and build relationships.
CCEM serves as a central repository for faith-based activities that occur, ranging from local Bible studies to large events like the Global Day of Prayer.
About CCEM
While CCEM is not an official company-sponsored organization, it is an officially recognized Employee Club managed by a core team of volunteers working on their personal time and in compliance with guidance provided by HR, Law, and Public & Government Affairs.
We believe that simple fellowship can provide confidence and reduce the urge to “check our faith at the door,” increasing our boldness and allowing us to bring our full selves to work. We would love for you to join our community and get plugged in!

Yes! CCEM abides by ExxonMobil policies and maintains open lines of communication with ExxonMobil Management and HR to ensure that CCEM activities are appropriate for the workplace.
ExxonMobil does not discourage participation in religious activities as long as the events abide by ExxonMobil policies. If you would like to learn more about ExxonMobil “Guidance on Religious Activities in the Workplace,” please contact your HR representative.
Supervisors are expected to treat all their employees on the basis of merit without any appearance of favoritism. Managers are encouraged to contact their HR representative to review the “Guidance on Religious Activities in the Workplace”.
A minimal level of incidental personal use of the Internet and e-mail is acceptable. The de minimis use of Company assets (computer, meeting rooms, projection equipment, and other related) is allowed as long as they are in accordance with local laws and in compliance with EM policies and guidelines. -
CCEM is not an ExxonMobil Employee Resource Group but is a recognized Employee Club.
-
CCEM is funded by the non-profit “Christian Community at Work,” which is turn is funded through the giving of Christian believers.
If you wish to financially support CCEM you can visit the Christian Community at Work website and follow the instructions, noting when you donate that the funds are intended for CCEM. -
CCEM was created with a focus on the Houston Campus, however all are welcome to subscribe to our newsletter and access to utilize the content on our website.
-
A group of EM volunteers working on their personal time manages CCEM’s website, newsletter, and certain events. We call this group the “Core Team.” Contact us if you would like more information.
Many other events and Bible studies are organized by other members of CCEM. These’s individuals heroically donate their personal time and effort to help connect and encourage Christians at ExxonMobil. -
Besides the website and newsletters, the CCEM Core Team also hosts a few events including “See You at the Pole,” the National Day of Prayer, and a Christmas party.
CCEM also shares other Christian events such as Bible studies, prayer groups etc. to facilitate connection and encouragement of believers on the Houston Campus.
-
CCEM is Biblically-based and founded on the Apostles Creed. We do not focus on a specific denomination. Everyone is welcome to attend events and studies.
-
Members are free and encouraged to let us know about events in order to share them with broader CCEM community. Before the event is shared, the CCEM Core team prayerfully evaluates it against the following criteria:
1) Is the event in line with CCEM’s Vision, Mission, and Values?
2) Does the event have an ExxonMobil contact? This person should be able to answer questions about the event and serve as a point of contact for members who have questions.
3) Will the ExxonMobil contact be present at the event? In order to welcome attendees and to help foster community, we require that the ExxonMobil contact be present at the event they are promoting.
If you are interested in creating a Bible study to share with the community, please consider reading through materials here.

We believe the battle is fought on our knees and the most important work we can do is to pray for one another. We would love to pray for and with you if you submit your request here.

CCEM’s role is to connect and encourage Christians to live out their faith in the workplace. CCEM does not run bible studies or prayer groups, but can point you to others who can share from their experience and guide you accordingly. We also have a starter guide that you can find here.
