Motel Church: A Volunteer Opportunity in Houston
Motel Church Houston is a small church planted among the homeless and working poor in northern Houston. We gather weekly at 10 am in a parking lot off of 1960 with a meal, a small worship service and a sermon. We need volunteers!
Our mission is to serve as God’s servants to help the homeless and the working poor in and living around weekly motels to:
- Come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
- Grow in Christ to carry on the great commission and the great commandment as the body of Christ and as individual believers
- Become responsible members of the body of Christ in their local community
We have an online signup for folks that are interested in volunteering to bring food and/or setup. Come check us out!
Location: Intersection of Breck St. and 1960 (across 1960 from McDonalds and in the parking lot between Bright Furniture and Performance Bicycle (4750 Farm to Market 1960 FM Rd W, Houston, TX 77069)). This is one parking lot over from one of a couple weekly motels where many of our guests live and a few blocks from a primitive camp in the woods where others live.
Date and Time (CDT): Every Sunday at 10 am (volunteers arrive about 9:30 am).
We also have a weekly bible study at 7 pm in the McDonalds right there at that intersection.
